After diving into another Avengers marathon, I found myself asking a question we’ve all probably pondered at least once: Who is the best Avenger? With a squad as powerful and diverse as the Avengers, each hero brings something unique to the table. But I’ve got my own top picks, and they’re not just based on strength or powers—each of these characters brings their own flavour to the team, making them unforgettable.
Without further ado, here are my top three Avengers, starting from #3!
3. Hulk: The Unstoppable Force
Let’s talk about the literal green giant in the room. Hulk, a.k.a Bruce Banner, might not be everyone’s top Avenger, but he’s definitely one of the most fascinating. His transformation into the Hulk unleashes unparalleled strength that’s nearly impossible to measure. The “strongest Avenger”? That’s up for debate, but he’s certainly up there. (Fun fact: In Thor: Ragnarok, Thor and Hulk have an epic showdown where Thor claims the title for himself, but the two remain locked in fierce rivalry!)
What’s amazing about Hulk is that he’s more than just muscle. Bruce Banner is a genius scientist, and the Hulk is essentially his alter ego unleashed. Watching Banner try to balance his intellect with his wild Hulk side adds depth to the character that goes beyond smashing. Plus, if we’re talking about survival, Hulk is practically immortal. He’s survived nuclear bombs, fought off entire armies, and even ripped Wolverine in half in the comics. Not many heroes can boast that kind of resilience.

2. Iron Man: The Genius Billionaire with a Heart
Tony Stark, the man who kickstarted the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is my second favourite Avenger. Tony doesn’t have superpowers like Thor or Hulk. Instead, he uses his intellect, wealth, and sheer determination to fight alongside gods and monsters. As a “genius billionaire, playboy, philanthropist,” Tony’s journey is one of growth, from a reckless, self-centred inventor to a selfless hero willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for the universe.
Iron Man’s tech is always next level, too. From his first clunky suit in Iron Man (2008) to his sleek, nanotech armour in Avengers: Endgame, Tony’s suits are essentially Swiss Army knives of weaponry. Each suit upgrade makes him more formidable, allowing him to adapt to every possible scenario, whether it’s fighting aliens, gods, or super-powered villains.
Plus, Tony’s wit and humour make him one of the most entertaining characters. He never misses a chance to throw in a sarcastic remark or witty comeback. In terms of relatability, Tony Stark stands out—he’s a character who made himself a hero through hard work and resilience, making him someone we could imagine being (at least if we had a billion-dollar tech empire!).

1. Thor: The Mighty God of Thunder
My ultimate Avenger has to be Thor. I mean the man is a literal God! Need I say more ???? That alone makes him one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe. But it’s not just his power that makes him my favourite; it’s his personality, his story arc, and his unique charm. Thor is bold, fearless, and fiercely loyal. His worthiness is encapsulated by Mjolnir, his enchanted hammer, which can only be lifted by those who are ‘Worthy’.
Thor’s transformation over the course of the MCU is also incredibly compelling. He started out as a proud, slightly arrogant warrior who learned humility, compassion, and the true meaning of heroism. From wielding Stormbreaker to taking down Thanos (well, almost), Thor’s journey is one of the richest in the MCU.
I’ll admit, though—I wasn’t a huge fan of what happened to him after Infinity War. While the direction they took with “Bro Thor” in Endgame had its humorous moments, it felt like a big shift from the character he’d become. But regardless of the bumps in his story arc, Thor remains a complex, charismatic hero who will always be at the top of my list.
Special Mention: Scarlet Witch
I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a. Scarlet Witch. With reality-warping powers that rival almost anyone else in the MCU, she’s one of the most powerful characters, period. Her abilities are so immense that she can take on some of the strongest heroes and villains alike. However, she didn’t quite make my top three because her character arc, while intense, lacks the strength of character and resolve that I admire in my top three. But she’s definitely a force to be reckoned with!

- Guardians of the Galaxy: The whole team is a blast. They bring humour, camaraderie, and unique strengths to the table.
- Doctor Strange: With his mastery over time and the mystic arts, he’s a powerhouse who’s just as capable of changing the course of reality as any Avenger.
